"It's class warfare and my class is winning." Warren Buffett

The value of any commodity, ... to the person who possesses it, and who means not to use or consume it himself, but to exchange it for other commodities, is equal to the quantity of labour which it enables him to purchase or command. Labour, therefore, is the real measure of the exchangeable value of all commodities. (Adam Smith, Wealth of Nations Book 1, chapter V.)

The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works....(Barack Obama)

The New Whisper Buddies

During the 2002 Senate District #8 race, the incumbent Dave Sokola (D) was in a close race with Michael Ramone (R). Although Roger Roy (R) was also up for re-election for his 20th Representative seat, he had no opponent. Nevertheless, Roger Roy, acting on the principle that incumbency is a greater bond than party affiliation, put out a mailer in the heavily Republican Limestone Hills area stating how he and Sokola had worked harmoniously together and used their street funds for road and curb improvements, etc., etc.

Roy betrayed Ramone. Not that Sokola woudn’t have done the same thing. He has long had the reputation of being a Delaware Incumbency Party (DIP) addict, actually snubbing non-incumbent Democratic Party candidates for incumbent Republic Party candidates at public events. I know. I have had them complain to me at the very events in which the snubs occurred.

But what is a Sokola to do when there isn’t an incumbent in the the 20th Representative District any more? Who does he snuggle up to in public?

Well, if the reports emerging from last night’s “Delaware Business Roundtable,” held at the Christiana Hilton Ballroom, are true, Dave has decided to engage in lengthy tender moments of whispering with the Republican Party and wannabe Incumbent Party candidate Nick Manolakos.

Dave has an instinct for those who will play ball.
